Balsicas is a village orbital to the larger towns of Torre Pacheco to the south and San Javier to the west. Like its neighbour Roldan, Balsicas is predominantly a commuter and agricultural village with no particular focus on tourism and although historically the settlement is centuries old, its superficial appearance is very modern. It's prized buildings; the church and the Castillo del Vizconde de Ros date to the Eighteenth Century. Close by are the hills Cabezo Gordo, a favoured spot for walkers and birdwatchers. In recent years, Balsicas has also found two new neighbours in the Polaris World golf resorts of La Torre Golf Resort and Las Terrazas de La Torre Golf Resort.
